Just because the school is now director-less, you don't think it should be direction-less, and you assert a bit more authority over the curriculum and classes.
Within a month, you have the school organized to your satisfaction and find that more and more students are enrolling, making things rather busy.
However, you still have time outside of work to continue playing with the band. You have built up a decent local following and are seriously looking to expand that to other, bigger cities.
Soon, an opportunity arises to do just that. A big, multi-university festival is being held in a national park a few hours away and they would like your band to play as the final act of the evening.
You are really excited about this. However, the details of the show soon become more clear.
It is taking place on a Wednesday, during the middle of the day. In order to go, you will have to book the day off.
You go to talk to the owner and he tells you that it would be impossible. He would have to shut the school down for a day and he is not willing to do that. You ask about what happens if/when you call in sick and he tells you that the Korean teachers would fill in the missing time. You ask why that can't happen this time and he just tells you again that it would be impossible.
You leave his office frustrated and a little bitter. After a few days of thinking things over, you decide:
go back to the owner and explain how hard you have been working lately and that you really deserve this day off.
to call in sick on the day of the show and go anyway.
put aside your quest for musical fame in Korea, work that day, and take a really good holiday later.
