She nods, but says she needs to know by the end of the week. You think for a few days and decide to discuss the dilemma with the owner.

He is very surprised. He says that, yes, the school has some money issues, but there is no reason for you to leave. He offers you the class at the other school again to get you some more money and says he will try to work out better vacation time for you. He looks close to tears as he tells you this and this tilts the argument in favour of staying. You tell him this, then borrow his phone to tell the director of your decision. The owner seems visibly relieved and thanks you profusely for staying.

You get up to leave his office and, as you reach the door, he says that due to the money issues, he will be a little short on your pay this month but will get the rest to you a little later. Also, again due to money issues, he had to sell your washing machine.

Feeling a bit perplexed about whether you made the right decision, you go up to your room.
