The director nods in understanding and you continue as you were before. As time passes, though, you realize that, despite the free rent and cheap food, you are having trouble making your student loan payments, etc., at home. You ask your director if there is a chance you could still get these jobs. She tells you that after you declined them, they were offered to another teacher who took them.
Despondent about your financial state and increasingly worn down by culture shock, you think long and hard about your situation. You eventually come to the conclusion that this is all not worth it. You go home, move back in with your parents and work multiple crappy jobs to pay your loans.
The adventure is over.
